Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to drive solar PV and integrated battery energy storage project development across the US and internationally. You will qualify opportunities, perform due diligence, and respond to RFPs with Business Development, Execution, and Finance teams.

The ideal candidate has deep PV and storage design experience (2–500 MW) and familiarity with project economics, PPA terms, and proposal generation. Travel up to 15% is required.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years in renewable energy project development, design, analysis and construction.
• Proficiency with renewable energy modeling tools: PVSYST, HOMER, SAM, Helioscope, Plant Predict.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Strong MS Office and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Energy production modeling for projects in development (PVSYST, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
• Battery dispatch modeling for projects in development (Excel, Matlab).
• Site evaluation for project suitability, remote and in-person.
• Project pricing and value engineering with an Estimator.
• Create preliminary plant designs and site layouts.
• Recommend primary project equipment (inverters, PV modules, racking, batteries).
• Technical diligence for new opportunities and third-party data.
• Support for RFPs, Greenfield Development, and Acquisition studies up to 30% design.
• Develop technical deliverables for RFP responses, with internal and external teams.
