Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to drive solar PV and integrated battery energy storage project development across the US and internationally. You will coordinate with the Business Development, Execution and Finance teams to evaluate opportunities and respond to RFPs.

The role requires 5+ years in renewable energy project development with strong modeling and design capabilities, including tools like PVSYST, Helioscope, and AutoCAD. Up to 15% travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of renewable energy project development experience.
• Proficiency with PV modeling tools (PVSYST, Helioscope, Plant Predict, HOMER, SAM).
• Proficiency with AutoCAD.
• MS Office with advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Energy production modeling for projects in development (PVSYST, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
• Battery dispatch modeling for projects in development (Excel, Matlab).
• Site evaluation (remote and in-person) for project suitability.
• Project pricing and value engineering exercises with an Estimator.
• Create preliminary plant designs, site layouts, single lines.
• Recommend primary project equipment (inverters, PV modules, racking, batteries).
• Technical diligence for new project opportunities and third-party data.
• Support for RFPs, Greenfield Development, and Acquisition studies up to 30% design.
• Development of technical deliverables for RFP responses and proposals.
