Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a talented Software Test Engineer for a 100% remote U.S.-based role. The position requires strong programming skills (C#, .NET, Java, or Python) and a decade of experience in software testing and quality assurance.

The ideal candidate will conduct and lead test activities for IT systems, APIs, and services, applying risk-based and exploratory testing approaches, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Must hold or qualify for a Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Proven track record on complex software projects with high-quality deliverables.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and SDLC.
• Proficiency in writing and executing test cases, scripts, and plans.
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools (Selenium, JUnit, TestNG).
• Experience with CI/CD tools and version control (GitHub Actions, Git, Subversion).
• Understanding of performance testing with JMeter/Gatling.
• Experience with defect tracking tools (JIRA, Bugzilla).
• Knowledge of SQL and APIs testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures.
• Write test cases/scripts and identify data for scenarios.
• Conduct walkthroughs with Test Managers and Leads.
• Perform tests to ensure defect-free operation of IT systems.
• Document and communicate test results and metrics.
• Support issue analysis and resolution.
• Mentor junior testers and guide test reviews.
• Translate business requirements into effective test scenarios.
• Contribute to test management and DevOps practices.
