Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is hiring a Software Test Engineer for a 100% remote role. The candidate will develop and execute test plans, automate tests, and collaborate with developers and project managers to ensure high-quality software delivery.

Required are strong programming skills (C#, Java, Python), experience in manual and automated testing, Agile/SDLC, and familiarity with CI/CD and test tools. 10+ years of experience and US citizenship required for this opportunity.

Qualifications

Strong programming skills in C#, Java or Python.
Proven track record on complex software projects with high-quality deliverables.
Experience in both manual and automated testing.
Solid Agile/Scrum and SDLC knowledge.
Proficient in writing/executing test cases, scripts, and plans.
Knowledge of test automation frameworks/tools (Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, LoadRunner).
Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions).
Familiarity with Git/Subversion.
Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling).
Experience with defect tracking tools (JIRA, Bugzilla).
SQL/database knowledge for data validation.
Testing of web apps, APIs, services.
Understanding of security testing practices/tools.
Experience with functional, regression, integration, system, usability, UAT testing.
Excellent analytical/problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Attention to detail and delivering quality work.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Mentor/test guide junior testers.
Translate business requirements into test scenarios.
Experience with test management tools.
Knowledge of DevOps practices/tools.
Ability to conduct test reviews and provide feedback.
Understanding of risk-based, exploratory and context-driven testing.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures to ensure compliance with standards.
Develop test schedules and approaches.
Write test cases/scripts and identify data for scenarios.
Walk through tests with managers/leads.
Lead tests to ensure defect-free operation.
Verify work products using defined methods and environments.
Document and communicate test results.
Support analysis and resolution of issues.
Resolve complex problems.
Report progress to management.
Improve current procedures and model future configurations.
Create daily test metrics and reports.
Perform other IT systems engineering activities as needed.
Apply technical principles to testing tasks.
Receive objectives and set meeting goals.
Provide direction to team per policies.
Measure objective attainment.
Provide technical solutions to difficult problems.
Ensure imaginative, thorough solutions aligned with objectives.
Independently develop solution approaches.
Review completed work for adequacy.
Demonstrate judgment in method selection.
Contribute to program/project completion.
Frequent inter-organizational contact with customers.
Represent organization in solving technical issues.
