Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Software Test Engineer for a 100% remote role. The candidate will apply strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python to design and execute comprehensive test plans for information systems and services.

The position requires experience across manual/automated testing, Agile/Scrum, SDLC, and test automation tools, including Selenium and CI/CD workflows. Applicants should have 10+ years of total professional experience and be eligible for a Public Trust

Qualifications

• Must have strong programming skills in C#, Java or Python.
• Proven track record on complex software projects with high-quality deliverables.
• Experience in manual and automated testing, Agile/Scrum, and SDLC understanding.
• Proficient in writing and executing test cases, scripts, and plans.
• Familiar with test automation frameworks/tools like Selenium, TestNG/JUnit, QTP, LoadRunner.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions) and VCS (Git/Subversion).
• Knowledge of performance testing tools (JMeter/Gatling) and defect tracking (JIRA/Bugzilla).
• Experience testing web apps, APIs, services; security testing practices; multiple testing types.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures to ensure systems meet requirements.
• Write test plans, schedules, and approach; create data for tests.
• Conduct walkthroughs with Test Managers/Leads and Development Leads.
• Perform and lead tests to ensure proper operation and defect-free software.
• Document and communicate test results; support analysis and issue resolution.
• Create daily test metrics and reporting; mentor junior testers.
• Review work for adequacy; provide technical solutions for complex problems.
• Collaborate across teams and participate in test reviews and feedback.
