Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a Software Test Engineer to support VA in a 100% remote role. Candidates must have strong programming skills in C#, .Net, Java, or Python and a track record on complex software projects. The role requires extensive manual and automated testing, Agile experience, and proficiency with test automation tools and CI/CD.

A U.S. Citizenship and Public Trust (MBI) is required. This is a full-time, U.S.-based remote position with opportunities to mentor junior testers

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C#, .Net, Java or Python.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and SDLC understanding.
• Proficient in writing/executing test cases, scripts, and plans.
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and GitHub Actions.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git/Subversion.
• Understanding of performance testing with JMeter/Gatling.
• Experience with defect tracking (JIRA/Bugzilla).
• Knowledge of database/SQL for validating stored data.
• Experience testing web apps, APIs, services; security testing practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures.
• Develop test plans, schedule, and approach.
• Write test cases/scripts and identify test data.
• Review test cases/scripts with stakeholders.
• Perform and lead tests on IT systems to ensure defect-free operation.
• Document and communicate test results.
• Support analysis/resolution of issues.
• Create daily test metrics and reporting.
• Mentor junior testers and guide testing activities.
• Work with business requirements to translate into test scenarios.
