Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Software Test Engineer for a 100% remote position. The role focuses on designing and executing test plans, automation scripts, and validation across information systems for government-related projects.

Ideal candidates have strong programming skills (C#, Java, Python) and extensive testing experience across both manual and automated domains. A Public Trust clearance is required or preferred for this US-based opportunity.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Proven track record on complex software projects and high-quality deliverables.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and SDLC understanding.
• Proficiency in writing and executing test cases, scripts, and plans.
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools: Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, LoadRunner.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions).
• Familiarity with Git and Subversion.
• Understanding of performance testing with JMeter and Gatling.
• Experience with defect tracking (JIRA, Bugzilla).
• Knowledge of SQL for data validation.
• Experience testing web apps, APIs, and services.
• Understanding of security testing practices and tools.
• Experience with multiple test types: functional, regression, integration, system, usability, UAT.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures to ensure compliance with standards.
• Develop test plans, schedules, and approaches.
• Write test cases and scripts and identify data for scenarios.
• Conduct walkthroughs with Test Managers, Leads, and Developers.
• Perform and lead tests of software/IT systems to ensure defect-free operation.
• Document and communicate test results.
• Support analysis of test results and issue resolution.
• Document and resolve complex problems.
• Report progress on issues to management.
• Create daily test metrics and reporting.
• Possibly perform other IT systems engineering activities as needed.
• Provide technical solutions to complex problems and ensure alignment with objectives.
