Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer for a fully remote role supporting the Veterans Affairs department. Candidates must have strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python and a background in both manual and automated testing. A decade of experience and a Public Trust (MBI) clearance are required.

The position is 100% U.S. based remote, with a W2 employment arrangement and strict government security requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Experience with manual and automated testing across complex software projects.
• Familiarity with SDLC and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools (Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, LoadRunner).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions) and version control (Git/SVN).
• Experience testing web apps, APIs, and services; security testing awareness.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures.
• Create test schedules and approaches.
• Write test scripts and identify data for scenarios.
• Perform and lead tests to ensure defect-free operation.
• Document and communicate test results and metrics.
• Support analysis of results and issue resolution.
• Mentor junior testers and guide test reviews.
• Provide technical solutions to complex problems.
