Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer for a fully remote role supporting the Veterans Affairs department. Candidates must have strong programming skills (C#, Java, or Python) and a track record in both manual and automated testing within Agile environments.

This 100% U.S.-based position requires a Public Trust (MBI) clearance and offers a competitive salary range ($85,389 - $116,975) with W2 employment.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in languages such as C#, Java, or Python.
• Experience on complex software projects with high-quality deliverables.
• Experience in manual and automated testing; familiarity with SDLC/Agile.
• Proficiency in test case/script creation and execution; CI/CD tools.
• Experience with test automation frameworks and tools (Selenium, TestNG/JUnit).
• Familiarity with version control (Git, Subversion) and continuous integration practices.
• Knowledge of APIs, web apps, security testing, and various test types (functional, regression, UAT).
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/Engineering or related field; 10+ years in software testing.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures to meet requirements.
• Create test schedules, approaches, and data for scenarios.
• Write test scripts and identify data for tests.
• Lead verification and testing of IT systems for defects.
• Document and communicate test results and metrics.
• Support analysis of test results and issue resolution.
• Mentor junior testers and translate business requirements into tests.
• Collaborate with Test Managers, Project Managers, and Development Leads.
