Job summary

1X is building humanoid robots for home use, shipping NEO and expanding reliability across software and hardware layers. You will own the reliability of the entire system, driving testing, observability, and incident management as the fleet scales from hundreds to tens of thousands of robots.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with depth in at least one layer of the stack (cloud/backend, systems, or embedded).
• Experience building test and reliability infrastructure, or distributed systems at scale (APIs, data pipelines, monitoring, incident management).
• Fluency in Python plus at least one systems language; strong DevOps and Linux skills including CI/CD and IaC.
• Strong statistical and probabilistic skills and an allergy to the sunk cost fallacy.
• Experience building from zero to one and then from one to production.

Responsibilities

• Own software reliability as a product, spanning web, cloud, mobile, on-robot services, and embedded layers.
• Build and own an integrated testing package that checks the system end-to-end, from developer tests to real robot movement.
• Triage reliability issues, locate problem edges, and route them to the appropriate software or hardware teams.
• Set the pace for software reliability best practices across the organization, for internal teams and external customers.
