Job summary

1X is building home humanoid robots that move, learn, and operate in real life alongside people. We are shipping NEO and scaling our testing to ensure reliability across hardware, software, cloud, and embedded systems.

You will own the reliability product and help the team deliver trustworthy robotics at fleet scale. As part of the reliability team, you will drive end-to-end testing from developer tests to real robot movement, triage issues, and propagate best practices across the organization

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with real depth in at least one layer of the stack (cloud and backend, systems, or embedded) and the range to reason across the rest.
• Experience building test and reliability infrastructure, or distributed systems at scale, such as APIs, real time data pipelines, monitoring, and incident management.
• Strong DevOps and Linux skills, including CI/CD and infrastructure as code, and fluency in Python plus at least one systems language.
• Strong statistical and probabilistic skills and an allergy to the sunk cost fallacy.
• Experience building from zero to one and then from one to production.

Responsibilities

• Own software reliability as a product across the full stack, from web and cloud through mobile, on-robot services, and embedded.
• Build and own an integrated testing package that checks the system end-to-end, from developer tests to robot movement.
• Triage reliability issues, locate problem edges, and route them to the appropriate software or hardware teams.
• Set the pace for reliability best practices across the organization, for internal teams and external customers.
