Job summary

1X is hiring for a firmware QA role focused on making every firmware release safe for home robots. You will own firmware quality across NEO and partner with engineers to ensure fast, safe shipping of updates. Build rigs, automation, and tests to quickly identify issues before deployment.

As part of the Firmware team, you will drive test strategy, implement CI regression suites in Python, and validate fault handling, security, and recovery scenarios across embedded hardware and software stacks.

Qualifications

• Test embedded systems at hardware-software boundary including timing and fault conditions.

Responsibilities

• Own firmware release quality: define release test criteria and sign off before fleet deployment.
• Collaborate with firmware developers to define test strategy and close coverage gaps.
• Build hardware-in-the-loop test rigs for validation across power, communication and sensors.
• Deliver automated Python regression suites that run in CI on every change.
• Prove safety-critical and security behavior works as specified, including fault detection and safe torque-off.
• Ensure fleet robustness by verifying safe state recovery after updates or power loss.
