Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is hiring for the role of Senior Software Engineer in Cambridge, MA (telecommuting permitted from anywhere in the United States).

You will perform software engineering duties across web applications focused on internet security, content delivery, APIs, and cloud computing, contributing to architecture, design, testing, and maintenance. The position involves building new features, automating processes, and enhancing the platform.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Networking, or telecommunications Engineering, plus two (2) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.
• Must have: two (2) years of experience with debugging and troubleshooting; distributed systems; web technologies such as J2EE, Rest, and Spring; algorithms; secure software design and architecture; scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Unix shell scripts; Microsoft SQL Server; and web services development.

Responsibilities

• Perform software engineering duties in design and implementation of custom web applications in the realms of internet security, content delivery, APIs, and/or cloud computing.
• Design, implement, automate, and support all aspects of the product; participate in the architecture, design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support of software solutions.
• Develop new applications, improve current systems and bring new capabilities to our customers.
• Contribute to our automated test suite, including unit, functional, integration, and end-to-end tests in labs and QA environments; improve current functionality and bring new features to the software platform.
