Akamai Technologies, Inc. is hiring for the role of Senior Software Engineer in Cambridge, MA. Telecommuting is permitted from anywhere within the United States.

The position focuses on designing and implementing web applications related to internet security, content delivery, APIs, and cloud computing, with responsibilities spanning architecture, development, testing, and maintenance of software solutions.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Networking, or telecommunications Engineering, plus two (2) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.
• Two (2) years of experience with debugging and troubleshooting; distributed systems; web technologies such as J2EE, Rest, and Spring; algorithms; secure software design and architecture; scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Unix shell scripts; Microsoft SQL Server; and web services development.

Responsibilities

• Perform software engineering duties in design and implementation of custom web applications across internet security, content delivery, APIs, and cloud computing.
• Design, implement, automate, and support all aspects of the product.
• Participate in architecture, design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support of software solutions.
• Develop new applications, improve current systems and bring new capabilities to customers.
• Contribute to automated test suite (unit, functional, integration, end-to-end) in labs and QA environments.
• Improve current functionality and bring new features to the software platform.
