Job summary

Rula is a remote-first company focused on high-quality mental healthcare. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect and scale our Patient Services platform, delivering a massively scalable backend data system that serves as the single source of truth for patient data.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and collaborate with product and cross-functional teams to shape the engineering roadmap and product vision during a period of hyper-growth.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of related professional experience.
• Experience building distributed and event driven systems.
• Experience with microservice development.
• Experience working on cross-functional teams to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Fluency in AI assisted development tools and frameworks. Able to leverage AI assisted coding tools to improve velocity and automate boilerplate tasks while setting and maintaining the right quality guardrails
• Experience mentoring others, reviewing architectures, and establishing design patterns.

Responsibilities

• Architect the high-throughput, distributed platform that serves as the single source of truth for all patient data across Rula.
• Lead the technical strategy for major initiatives to re-engineer core backend data systems for scalability, resilience, and fault tolerance.
• Mentor engineers, establish operational rigor, and collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to shape roadmaps.
• Drive architectural decisions from zero to one while delivering impact on patient outcomes and system reliability.
