Job summary

Rula, a remote-first company focused on making mental healthcare more accessible in the United States, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to help shape the Marketplace Health Engine and scale its infrastructure for patients and providers.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Product, Data, and Operations, mentor engineers, and remain hands-on in software development to drive technical strategy and measurable impact across the marketplace.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience building scalable distributed systems.
• Experience leading initiatives across multiple teams.
• Backend services, APIs, and data-intensive systems design (AWS preferred).
• Partnering with Product and Data to deliver business outcomes.
• Solving complex marketplace, platform, or large-scale operational problems with measurable impact.
• Strong communication to align technical and non-technical stakeholders around a shared vision.
• End-to-end project delivery from discovery and design through implementation, launch, and post-launch support.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver scalable systems for the Marketplace Health Engine to improve efficiency and access.
• Drive technical strategy and mentor engineers, while staying hands-on in development.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Data, and Operations to address marketplace challenges.
• Lead implementation and ensure reliable, scalable services across teams.
