Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a software engineer to join an Agile development team focused on system and software requirements, testing, and integration for mission-critical avionics software.

You will write Python test scripts, work with Ada/C, verify builds, collaborate across engineering disciplines, and help improve test processes while ensuring compliance with company standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with 8+ years experience or advanced degree with 5+ years.
• Experience working within Agile development teams.
• Experience developing software requirements (heavy focus).
• Experience with test automation using Python (heavy focus).
• Experience with Ada/C.
• Experience with engineering tools such as DOORS, PREP, TLBD, ALM, JIRA, EA or similar.
• Hands‑on experience in systems and software integration incl. design, development and testing.
• Experience interfacing with development teams to resolve discrepancies.
• Experience with systems integration, test execution, and test results documentation.
• Experience problem solving and debugging.

Responsibilities

• Support software engineering activities within an Agile environment, translating requirements into software strategies.
• Develop automated and semi-automated test scripts using Python to validate software functionality.
• Update and maintain software products using Ada/C.
• Verify software builds in integrated lab environments and support verification events.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine system requirements and designs.
• Present technical progress and status updates to Agile team members and leadership.
• Improve test development processes, tools and practices while maintaining compliance.
• Navigate bids & pursuits following Collins Processes.
• Mentor younger engineers through software tasks.
