Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking a Senior Engineer, Software Engineering to design, develop, test and validate critical avionics software and embedded systems with cross-functional collaboration.

You will work on DO-178B/C compliant software, avionics communication protocols (AFDX/ARINC 664, ARINC 429, Ethernet) and HIL integration, onsite with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software/Electrical/Aerospace Engineering or related field with 5+ years as Software Engineer or 3+ years with a Master’s degree.
• 3+ years of experience in safety-critical embedded software development and verification.
• 3+ years of avionics development and verification, including DO-178B/C compliant software.
• 1+ year of experience in avionics communication protocols (AFDX ARINC 664, ARINC 429, Ethernet).
• 1+ year of experience in HIL integration, test automation, and validation of complex avionics systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, document, test and debug control and diagnostic systems.
• Collaborate with equipment designers on electronic data processing systems for product/software.
• Determine end user needs by analyzing system capabilities and inputs/outputs.
• Ensure hardware and software standards are met.
• Develop build procedures to support hardware/software product development.
• May train developers in configuration management tools and software quality standards.
• Includes model-based design.
