Job summary
Collins Aerospace, part of RTX, seeks a Principal Software Engineer to develop requirements, tests and integration for mission sensors, weapons and IFF avionics in Cedar Rapids. You will work in an Agile team translating requirements into robust software solutions and test strategies.
You will use Python for automated tests, Ada/C for software updates and support verification events. Collaboration across disciplines is essential.
Qualifications
- Typically requires a STEM degree and 8 years of experience or an advanced degree with 5+ years experience.
- Experience working within Agile development teams and with software requirements.
- Experience with test automation using Python and with Ada/C.
- Experience with engineering tools such as DOORS, PREP, TLBD, ALM, JIRA or similar.
- Hands-on experience in systems and software integration for complex hardware/software systems.
- Ability to resolve discrepancies, problems and drive cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Develop requirements, tests, verification and software integration for avionics systems within an Agile team.
- Develop automated and semi-automated test scripts using Python.
- Update and maintain software products using Ada/C.
- Verify builds in lab environments and support formal verification events.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements and design solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers and help improve test development processes.
