Job summary

Thomson Reuters is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Legal) on the CoCounsel Forward Deployed Engineering team. You will design, build, and deploy bespoke AI solutions for law firms and corporate legal departments, turning architectural direction into production-ready systems trusted by legal professionals.

You will work with AI engineers and cross-functional partners to deliver high-impact solutions, write clean code, manage technical debt, and mentor junior engineers in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in production systems.
• Strong Python development and testing capabilities.
• Expertise in AI/LLM evaluation methodologies and prompt design.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the interface between legal professionals and engineering teams.
• Collaborate with AI engineers to translate customer needs into deliverables.
• Develop software through the full SDLC with secure, testable code.
• Evaluate AI outputs for accuracy and relevance in legal contexts.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead Agile/Scrum projects.
