Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Senior Software Engineer– AI to join the CoCounsel International team and collaborate with our Labs team to build AI agents and adapt them for international products. You will develop backend services using Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL to enable real-time AI interactions and scalable data flows for legal professionals worldwide.

You will mentor engineers, shape platform architecture, and integrate with major AI providers to productionize agentic capabilities.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience designing and shipping backend systems.
• Strong Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and AWS expertise.
• Proven experience with agentic AI workflows, LLM orchestration, and production-grade services.
• Excellent debugging and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Build AI-powered backend systems and services to support real-time AI interactions and large-scale data flows.
• Shape platform architecture by defining service boundaries and scalable interfaces.
• Productionize AI capabilities by integrating with LLM providers and implementing guardrails, telemetry, and observability.
• Collaborate with Labs, product managers, and designers to turn early AI concepts into production-ready features for international products.
• Mentor engineers through pairing, code reviews, and ongoing technical guidance.
