Job summary
Thomson Reuters is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Legal) to build the next generation of AI-powered legal solutions on the CoCounsel Forward Deployed Engineering team. You will design, implement, and deploy production-grade systems for law firms and corporate legal departments, collaborating with AI engineers and cross-functional partners to translate needs into scalable software.

Qualifications
- JD or formal legal training or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with Python.
- Strong understanding of AI evaluation methodologies and prompt engineering.
- Excellent communication and ability to present to both lawyers and engineers.
- Growth mindset and adaptability with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Bridge between legal professionals—customer-facing teams and internal legal SMEs—and the engineering team.
- Translate customer requirements into actionable work for the team.
- Develop software from system specifications through testing and documentation.
- Write clean, secure code and manage technical debt with DevOps practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and lead routine projects using Agile/Scrum.
- Deliver end-to-end technical solutions for multiple products for legal clients.
