Job summary

LinkedIn seeks a Senior Software Engineer in Identity Development to design, build, and operate identity platforms used by engineering teams. You will own major projects from definition through production and mentor peers in secure, scalable system design.

You will collaborate across security, infrastructure, and product teams to deliver reliable identity services and developer tools, while upholding security and privacy best practices across the software lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and operating production software.
• 4+ years of programming experience in Java, Go, or Python.
• Experience with identity and access management, authentication, authorization, SSO, directory services, or identity lifecycle management.
• Experience building backend services, APIs, or distributed systems.
• Experience taking software changes through development, testing, code review, deployment, and production support.
• Experience working effectively with technical partners across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate scalable identity and access services, libraries, and developer tools.
• Lead technical projects end to end: clarify requirements, evaluate trade-offs, produce designs, deliver implementation, and measure results.
• Build secure authentication and authorization experiences, including SSO, identity lifecycle integrations, certificate-based access, or directory services.
• Develop reliable distributed systems and APIs that meet demanding availability, performance, and security requirements.
• Partner with infrastructure, security, and product engineering teams to understand integration needs and deliver solutions that are easy to adopt.
• Apply security and privacy principles throughout the software lifecycle, including threat-aware design, least privilege, and secure handling of credentials and identity data.
• Improve service health through monitoring, testing, incident response, and on-call rotation; contribute to code reviews and documentation.
• Mentor engineers and share practices that improve code quality, team effectiveness, and developer experience.
