Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Senior Analyst, Software Engineering to support and enhance critical applications used by partners and clients. You will troubleshoot production issues and deliver code fixes in a fast-paced environment, while collaborating with business users and cross-functional teams in Chicago.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience supporting and developing enterprise applications.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
• Strong SQL skills with experience troubleshooting relational databases.
• Experience debugging across application, database, and integration layers.
• Experience in production support, application support, or DevOps-oriented environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and engage with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 application support for critical business applications.
• Partner with business users to understand issues, gather requirements, and provide guidance.
• Perform root-cause analysis of application, data, and integration issues, and implement solutions.
• Develop, test, and deploy fixes and enhancements using Java and Spring-based technologies.
• Analyze SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures to diagnose data-related issues.
• Participate in release validation, user acceptance testing, and production deployments.
• Monitor application health and identify opportunities to improve reliability and supportability.
• Prepare technical documentation and knowledge-sharing materials.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and business teams for delivery and support.
• Mentor junior team members and share technical expertise.
