Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Production Support Engineer to join our Wealth Management technology teams in Chicago. The role focuses on managing production issues, driving stability, and collaborating with application development squads to deliver reliable financial services solutions.

The ideal candidate has 5–8+ years of experience with Java and cloud technologies, strong communication, and a proven ability to work in an Agile environment, including on-call duties during weekends or after hours.

Qualifications

• 5-8+ years of application development/support experience with modern frameworks and architecture.
• Experience supporting business applications on Java and database technologies.
• Experience in DevOps or SRE environments is a plus.
• Understanding of SSDLC or similar methodologies.
• Experience in Agile/XP environments and cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong ability to translate business needs to technology and back.

Responsibilities

• Lead production stability effort by preventing production issues and improving stability.
• Familiar with ITIL processes; assist and drive Change/Incident/Problem Management and releases.
• Identify measures to improve application stability, availability, cost efficiencies and productivity.
• Provide leadership and guidance to junior staff and foster teamwork and communication.
• Coordinate with business partners to determine effective computer utilization to solve problems.
