Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Software Architect to assess our platform's architecture and define a target-state design for an FDA-regulated SaaS product. You will lead technical decision-making and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

This role requires 8+ years of experience across PHP, C++, and JavaScript, strong SOLID/GRASP fundamentals, and experience with Domain-Driven Design and regulatory software. You will mentor engineers and shape CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience developing or architecting within mixed-technology stacks (PHP, C++, JavaScript).
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, SOLID and GRASP design principles and modern architecture patterns.
• Experience with layered system architectures (DDD, Anti-Corruption Layer, Hexagonal, clean architecture).
• Experience in designing, architecting, and scaling SaMD (Software as a Medical Device) solutions in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Proven experience designing APIs, data models, and integration layers in complex, multi-language system architectures.
• Experience improving CI/CD and software delivery lifecycles while maintaining security, auditability, and resiliency in private cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Assess current system architecture, integrations, and data flows to identify technical debt and scalability constraints.
• Define a target-state architecture aligned with DDD and clean architecture principles; design data extraction pipelines from external feeds.
• Design denormalized storage to accelerate read-heavy queries with clear trade-offs.
• Develop and execute a phased architectural roadmap and refactoring strategy while preserving backward compatibility.
• Establish engineering standards, coding guidelines, and decision-making frameworks for maintainability.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership and guidance to a mixed-technology team (PHP, C++, JS).
• Support development workflows, CI/CD pipelines, testing procedures, and release processes.
• Mentor team members through design reviews and architectural documentation.
