Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Software Architect to assess our platform's architecture and define a target-state design for an FDA-regulated SaaS product.

You will lead architectural decisions, design bounded contexts with DDD, and outline a phased roadmap to modernize legacy components while maintaining backward compatibility. This role requires strong leadership, deep domain knowledge, and the ability to mentor remote engineers across teams.

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the US; no visa sponsorship available.
• Proven experience as Lead Architect, Principal Engineer, or similar.
• Strong foundations in SOLID and GRASP; modern architecture patterns.
• Experience with layered architectures: DDD, ACL, Hexagonal/clean arch.
• Designing SaMD solutions with regulatory compliance knowledge.
• Proven API, data model, and integration layer design experience.
• Experience remediating technical debt and large-scale refactors.
• Improving CI/CD, security, auditability, and private cloud delivery.
• Excellent communication; mentor for remote engineers.
• Independent, prioritized, and high-integrity work style.

Responsibilities

• Assess current architecture, data flows, and debt to identify constraints.
• Define target-state architecture with bounded contexts and DDD alignment.
• Design fault-tolerant data pipelines and flexible integration layers.
• Create denormalized storage with trade-off analysis for read-heavy queries.
• Develop phased roadmap; modernize legacy components with backward compatibility.
• Establish standards, guidelines, and architectural decision processes.
• Improve CI/CD, testing, and release processes; mentor the team.
• Produce high-quality architectural docs for ongoing maintenance.
