AgileEngine, LLC. is seeking a Software Architect to assess our platform's architecture and define a target-state design for an FDA-regulated SaaS product. You will lead architectural efforts, drive modernization, and mentor remote engineers.

The role emphasizes Domain-Driven Design, clean architecture, API design, and scalable SaMD solutions with strong regulatory alignment. Hybrid work options available in the Jersey City area.

Qualifications

• Must have authorization to work for any employer in the US; no visa sponsorship for this role.
• Proven success as Lead Software Architect, Principal Engineer, or similar senior technical leader.
• Strong fundamentals: SOLID and GRASP; deep modern architecture knowledge.
• Experience with layered architectures (DDD, Anti-Corruption Layer, Hexagonal, or clean architecture).
• Experience designing, architecting, and scaling SaMD solutions with regulatory compliance.
• Proven API design, data models, and integration in multi-language systems.
• Experience remediating technical debt and large-scale refactoring.
• Strong CI/CD and software delivery lifecycle improvement with security/auditability in private clouds.
• Excellent communication and mentoring for remote teams.
• Independent worker with strong prioritization and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Assess current architecture, data flows, and debt; audit legacy system and DB schemas.
• Define target-state architecture with bounded contexts; apply DDD and clean architecture.
• Design denormalized storage to speed read-heavy queries with trade-off analysis.
• Create phased roadmap and refactor strategy while preserving backward compatibility.
• Establish engineering standards, guidelines, and architectural decision records.
• Improve development workflows, CI/CD pipelines, testing, and release processes.
• Mentor engineers, conduct design reviews, and produce architecture documentation.
