Job summary

RTX in McKinney, TX is seeking a Principal SMT Process Engineer to join the CCA Process Engineering team. You will work hands-on in an ISO Class 8 cleanroom to install, qualify, and optimize SMT processes for RF microelectronic packaging, collaborating with product, quality, reliability, and operations teams.

The role emphasizes process improvement, equipment qualification, and working with suppliers to resolve technical challenges, with a strong focus on data-driven problem solving and DFM

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM and 8+ years of related experience.
• 5+ years SMT manufacturing/process engineering experience.
• Experience in high-reliability manufacturing environments (aerospace, defense, medical, automotive).

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site support for high-volume, high-mix production and handle equipment/process challenges.
• Collaborate with product, quality, reliability, and manufacturing engineers on production.
• Develop materials, processes, improvements, using SPC, DOE, and root-cause analysis.
• Qualify equipment, conduct acceptance testing, specify development, coordinate with suppliers.
• Lead SMT process development, paste deposition, dispensing, pick-and-place, reflow, and inspections.
• Drive yield improvements via data analysis and DOE.
• Provide DFM feedback with Design and Product Engineers.
• Support new product builds using automated equipment and develop innovations.
• Drive process improvement to enhance productivity and qualify new materials.
• Integrate capital equipment to meet current and future needs.
• Communicate technical information across cross-functional teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians; act as SME.
• Spend up to 6+ hours daily in cleanroom and adhere to ESD protocols.
• Work day shift starting between 6 AM and 9 AM with possible 9/80 schedule.
