Job summary

Symbotic is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to oversee the health and performance of its automated material handling systems on-site. You will monitor, diagnose, and repair PLCs, VFDs, motors, and robotics while guiding maintenance technicians to ensure uptime.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical/automation
• At least 1 year diagnosing PLCs (preferably Allen-Bradley)
• At least 1 year with VFDs and motor control systems
• Hands-on experience with automated conveyors, lifts, and robotics
• Strong diagnostic skills using SQL/Python/Linux for system data

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain health of automated systems including conveyors, lifts, robots, and motors
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and automation issues to minimize downtime
• Diagnose PLC/drive faults and performance issues
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automated equipment
• Analyze system logs and alarms to identify recurring faults
• Document activities using CMMS (Maximo) and internal tools
• Provide escalation support during disruptions and downtime
• Collaborate with on-site teams to restore system performance
• Mentor technicians and operators with hands-on guidance
• Support critical on-site functions to maintain uptime
• Ensure OSHA/LOTO and safety standards compliance
