Job summary
Symbotic is seeking a Site Engineer to support reliability, availability, and performance of automated warehouse systems in a live production environment. This hands-on role focuses on troubleshooting, stabilization, and on-site technical execution to maintain system uptime.
You will diagnose PLCs, VFDs, motors, sensors, and control hardware, and work with maintenance teams to restore performance. A Bachelor’s in a relevant field or equivalent hands-on experience is required, with strong SQL,
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Minimum 1 year hands-on experience with PLCs (prefer Allen-Bradley) for diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Minimum 1 year experience with VFDs, diagnosing speed, torque, and drive issues.
- Minimum 1 year experience with AC and DC motors.
- Hands-on with automated systems like conveyors, lifts, AS/RS, robotics, servo motors, or 480V systems.
- Experience supporting autonomous or semi-autonomous systems on automated material handling.
- Knowledge of SQL, Python, and Linux for diagnostics and log review.
- Strong hands-on experience with robotics and electro-mechanical systems.
- Maintenance/Automation maintenance/lead maintenance technician background preferred.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain health of automated systems including conveyors, lifts, robots, motors, sensors, and PLCs.
- Perform advanced electrical, mechanical, and automation troubleshooting to fix production issues.
- Support preventive and corrective maintenance on automated equipment.
- Document maintenance and findings using CMMS (e.g., Maximo).
- Provide on-site technical guidance to maintenance technicians and operators.
- Escalate complex issues as a senior technical point of contact during downtime.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, LOTO, and electrical safety standards.
