Job summary

Symbotic seeks a Site Engineer to ensure uptime of automated warehouse systems in a live production environment. This hands-on role focuses on reliability, health, and performance of electro-mechanical systems on site.

You will diagnose and resolve issues across PLCs, motors, sensors, and control hardware, and support preventive maintenance with CMMS documentation. OSHA and safety standards apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with PLCs, preferably Allen-Bradley, focused on diagnostics and troubleshooting.
• Minimum 1 year of experience with VFDs, including diagnosing speed/torque issues.
• Minimum 1 year of experience with AC and DC motors.
• Hands-on experience with automated systems such as conveyors, lifts, robotics, and servo motors.
• Working knowledge of SQL, Python, and Linux for diagnostics and system interaction.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain the health of automated systems (conveyors, lifts, robotic vehicles, motors, sensors, PLC equipment).
• Perform advanced electrical, mechanical, and automation troubleshooting to resolve production-impacting issues.
• Diagnose failures across PLCs, VFDs, motors, sensors and control hardware.
• Support preventive and corrective maintenance on automated equipment.
• Use data, logs, alarms and dashboards to identify fault conditions and recurring issues.
• Document maintenance activities in CMMS systems and internal tools.
• Act as senior technical escalation point during downtime events.
• Collaborate with on-site teams to restore and stabilize system performance.
• Provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians and operators.
