Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a Site Engineer to ensure reliable uptime of its automated warehouse systems in a live production environment. This hands-on role focuses on troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical execution on site, aligned with maintenance engineering profiles.

The Site Engineer will monitor conveyors, lifts, robotic vehicles, and motors, using CMMS tools and data dashboards, while collaborating with on-site teams to stabilize system performance and safety compliance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Minimum 1 year hands-on experience with PLCs (prefer Allen-Bradley) for diagnostics and troubleshooting (not heavy programming).
Minimum 1 year experience with VFDs, diagnosing speed, torque, and drive-related issues.
Minimum 1 year experience with AC/DC motors.
Hands-on experience with automated systems such as conveyors, vertical lifts, and motor-driven equipment.
Experience with autonomous or semi-autonomous systems including conveyors, AS/RS, robotics, servo motors, or 480V systems.
Working knowledge of SQL, Python, and Linux for diagnostics and system interaction.
Strong hands-on experience with robotics and electro-mechanical systems.
Preferred background in maintenance engineering or automation maintenance.

Responsibilities

Monitor and maintain health of automated systems (conveyors, lifts, robotic vehicles, motors, sensors, PLCs).
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and automation issues impacting production.
Diagnose PLCs, VFDs, motors, sensors, and control hardware.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automated equipment.
Use data logs and dashboards to identify fault conditions and recurring issues.
Document maintenance activities in CMMS and internal tools.
Serve as escalation point during system disruptions or downtime events.
Collaborate with on-site teams to restore system performance.
Provide on-the-job guidance to maintenance technicians and operators.
Support critical on-site technical functions to maintain uptime.
Ensure OSHA, LOTO, electrical safety compliance.
