Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a Site Engineer to support the reliability, availability, and performance of automated warehouse systems in a live production environment. This hands-on role centers on system health, equipment reliability, and technical execution on site.

The position is not commissioning-focused and not customer-facing; you’ll troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, motors, and robotics, while documenting activities and coordinating with maintenance and operations teams to keep uptime high.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 1+ year hands-on experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley) diagnostic troubleshooting.
• 1+ year experience with VFDs, diagnosing speed, torque, drive issues.
• 1+ year experience with AC/DC motors.
• Hands-on experience with automated systems such as conveyors and robotics.
• Experience with SQL, Python, Linux for diagnostics and data review.

Responsibilities

• Monitor health of automated systems including conveyors, lifts, robotic vehicles, motors, sensors, and PLC-controlled equipment.
• Perform electrical, mechanical, and automation troubleshooting to resolve production issues.
• Diagnose failures across PLCs, VFDs, motors, sensors, and control hardware.
• Support preventive and corrective maintenance on automated equipment.
• Use system data, alarms, logs, and dashboards to identify faults and recurring issues.
• Document maintenance activities using CMMS (Maximo) and internal tools.
• Act as senior technical escalation point during downtime events.
• Collaborate with on-site teams to restore system performance.
• Provide guidance and on-the-job support to technicians and operators.
• Step in to support critical on-site functions to maintain uptime.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, LOTO, electrical safety and company standards.
