Job summary

THOR Solutions, LLC in San Diego, CA, seeks an Engineering Technician V with Navy shipboard experience to support firefighting, pollution abatement, and auxiliary systems aboard U.S. Navy ships. You will troubleshoot, maintain, and train Ship's Force to improve fleet readiness.

Requires a Secret clearance or ability to obtain, HS diploma, 3–5 years of hands-on shipboard experience, and travel up to 10%. Onsite work at SWRMC with a competitive hourly pay and health benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED equivalent.
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience operating troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and assessing U.S. Navy shipboard firefighting, damage control, pollution-abatement, and fresh-water systems and their controls.
• Experience with electrical/electronic controls for the above systems.
• Ability to review Shipboard Temporary Fire Protection Plan calculations to determine hydraulically remote stations.
• Support for pollution-abatement and fresh-water systems (OPA, OWS, OCM, RO distillers, etc.).
• Electrical support for control, detection, alarm-sensing, and monitoring equipment.
• Ability to use MS Office to compile reports and manage data.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide Full-Time Onsite Support and Surge Support for Code 251 equipment.
• Conduct on-site fleet technical assistance and perform evaluations, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Perform inspections to determine equipment condition and adjust as needed.
• Provide Onboard Maintenance Training (OBMT) to Ship's Force technicians.
• Analyze inspection data and recommend corrective actions.
• Report findings to Team Leader/Branch Head within two working days.
