Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Scientist or Geologist to lead projects for federal and public-sector clients. You will apply engineering and environmental science techniques to sediment remediation challenges and mentor junior staff.

The role requires strong communication with clients and stakeholders, travel up to 10%, and the ability to manage technical work streams from concept to final design in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Travel frequency contingent on duties and workload.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and design sediment remediation for riverine, coastal, riparian, or port sites.
• Understand principles of sediment and contaminant transport, site assessment, sampling/monitoring technologies, cap modeling, dredge approaches, and remedial action design.
• Provide support of mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
• Serve as CDM Smith’s task manager on sediment sites, communicating technical strategy to clients and collaborating with SMEs.
• In-depth expertise in CERCLA, GLLA, and other regulatory steps at contaminated sediment sites.
• Liaise with client, public, and outside consultants; communicate complex evaluations to non-experts.
• Lead staff in preparing/reviewing technical information conforming to regulations.
