Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Scientist or Geologist to lead and deliver sediment remediation projects for Federal and Public sector clients in the United States. Ideal candidates have independent work experience and can lead a team of engineers and scientists on diverse sites.

The role covers evaluating remediation technologies, design development, and regulatory compliance, with travel up to 10% and opportunities to mentor staff across complex projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise evaluating feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and design sediment remediation for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, or port settings.
• Understand principles of sediment transport, environmental site assessment, sampling/monitoring, cap modelling, dredge approaches, and remedial action design.
• Support mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
• Act as task manager on sediment sites, communicating technical strategy to clients and coordinating with SMEs.
• Liaise with clients and outside consultants, presenting complex evaluations to non-experts.
• Lead staff in preparing and reviewing technical documents to ensure regulatory conformity.
