Job summary

Pearson is seeking a Senior Director of Security Operations to lead the Security Operations Center, drive detection engineering, and oversee incident response across Pearson environments. The role emphasizes automation, process improvement, and collaboration with internal and external partners to safeguard critical assets.

The position requires overseeing on-call coverage, advancing detection capabilities, and ensuring compliance with Pearson policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Must have experience working with regulated environments or government clients.
• Proven experience in security operations, incident response, and detection engineering (4+ years).
• Hands-on expertise with SOAR, EDR, NDR, and SIEM technologies.
• Experience with one or more Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong multitasking and adaptation in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent communication skills, especially in stakeholder management and translating risk to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage day-to-day security operations across Pearson environments.
• Develop and optimize detection logic, playbooks, and automated response workflows.
• Refine SOC processes and collaborate with threat intelligence teams.
• Provide executive-level reporting, risk assessments, and metrics for SOC effectiveness.
• Act as trusted advisor to internal stakeholders and translate technical findings for non-technical audiences.
