Job summary

Maximus is seeking a Lead Security Engineer to collaborate with AI, enterprise architecture, and business development teams. The role focuses on implementing and improving cybersecurity controls to protect federal information systems and data, supporting security operations, compliance, vulnerability management, and cloud security initiatives across environments.

The candidate will guide engineering staff, lead security projects, and ensure risk-based technical leadership, with responsibilities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with 7+ years.
• 5+ years of Security Engineering experience.
• Experience with US Federal government security engineering.
• Familiarity with NIST 800-53 Security and Privacy Controls.
• Familiarity with NIST 800-171 for protecting CUI.
• Strong background securing CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of networking connectivity and network security controls.
• Understanding endpoint security (servers/workstations).
• Knowledge of Zero Trust implementations.
• Experience with vulnerability management and remediation processes.
• Experience with cloud security in AWS and/or Azure.
• Travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME and provide guidance on Information Security solutions.
• Lead or contribute to information security projects and mentor staff.
• Implement, configure, and maintain Information Security solutions following best practices.
• Coordinate planning and support for enterprise projects across teams.
• Direct execution of program elements based on risk and business impact.
• Advise on security controls across cloud, network, and endpoints.
• Perform security assessments, vulnerability analysis, and remediation tracking.
• Advise on security technologies (SIEM, EDR, firewalls, scanners).
• Develop and maintain security documentation and system security plans.
• Support Zero Trust and cloud security best practices.
• Review proposals to ensure technical compliance.
