Job summary

Actalent is seeking a SCADA Engineer for a contract role based in Conover, NC. You will design, develop, deploy, and support industrial automation solutions, working with SCADA systems like iFIX, Allen-Bradley PLCs, and SQL databases to deliver reliable performance.

You'll participate in FAT/SAT, assist with startup and commissioning at customer sites, and create clear documentation for internal teams and customers. Strong communication and on-site collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in industrial automation or controls engineering.
• 5+ years of iFIX SCADA development and support.
• Experience with SCADA/HMI systems, including iFIX.
• Proven programming and troubleshooting of Allen-Bradley PLCs.
• Hands-on SQL database experience for data collection and reporting.
• Experience commissioning automation systems in manufacturing/customer facilities.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Willingness for occasional after-hours support.
• Exposure to Ignition SCADA software is a plus.
• Clear communication with customers and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support SCADA applications for industrial projects.
• Configure and maintain SCADA platforms to meet requirements.
• Integrate SCADA with Allen-Bradley PLCs and networks.
• Develop SQL databases for data collection, reporting, and analytics.
• Participate in system architecture and project planning.
• Perform FAT and SAT to validate system functionality.
• Support startup, commissioning, and integration at customer sites.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and communications issues.
• Provide after-hours production support as needed.
• Produce technical docs, SOPs, and training materials.
• Collaborate with controls engineers, PMs, electricians, and customers.
