Job summary

Actalent in Newton, NC is seeking a hands-on Controls Engineer to optimize manufacturing automation and drive reliability on the production floor.

You will work with Siemens PLCs, Fanuc CNCs, robotics, and vision systems to improve safety, quality, and efficiency while supporting Industry 4.0 initiatives.

This role blends project engineering with daily troubleshooting, data collection, and continuous improvement to deliver measurable performance gains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• Hands-on experience with industrial automation and control systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and drawings for troubleshooting and design.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate control systems for performance, reliability, and safety.
• Incorporate new technologies into designs where appropriate.
• Develop and execute test procedures to validate control functionality and safety compliance.
• Create and review electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic control drawings.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on components and suppliers for automation systems.
• Ensure accurate data collection and reporting of key production metrics.
• Provide on-floor technical support and resolve control-related issues.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives in automation and manufacturing processes.
• Maintain project documentation for traceability and compliance.
