Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks an Automation Engineer for Electric Grid Infrastructure Services in the Maryland area. The role focuses on designing SCADA and communications systems for substation and distribution automation, including integration with SEL and GE RTUs, battery storage, and microgrid controllers.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in-office and two remote days, plus relocation support depending on location.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience designing, configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting substation SCADA and comms systems.
• Basic understanding of LAN/WAN devices and topology.
• Knowledge of DNP, Modbus, IEC-61850 (MMS/Goose) protocols.

Responsibilities

• Engage in fast-paced client projects to plan, engineer, and design SCADA and communications systems.
• Develop block diagrams, panel layouts, SCADA schematics, fiber details, and network drawings.
• Coordinate with relay settings engineers on protection relays, meters and other IEDs.
