Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an Automation Engineer to design and implement SCADA and communications systems for electric grid infrastructure projects. The role involves developing block diagrams, panel layouts, SCADA schematics, fiber drawings, and network diagrams, along with configuring RTUs and PACs and creating HMI applications to meet project requirements.

Hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two remote days.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in design, configuration, and troubleshooting of substation SCADA and communication systems.
• Experience with SEL, Novatech, and GE RTUs and software.
• Knowledge of DNP, Modbus, SEL, IEC-61850 protocols (MMS/Goose) – serial & IP based.

Responsibilities

• Plan, engineer, and design SCADA and communications systems for client projects.
• Develop block diagrams, panel layouts, SCADA schematics, fiber details, and network drawings.
• Configure RTUs and PACs; develop HMI applications.
• Coordinate with relay settings engineers on protection relay port settings.
• Develop network device configurations for switches, routers, and firewalls.
• Troubleshoot SCADA networks remotely and onsite.
• Develop project documents and automation tools to improve efficiency.
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge within communities of practice.
