Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a Manager, Occupational Safety to lead the safety team and oversee plant-wide safety processes, emergency planning, and regulatory compliance. You will partner with Health & Safety leadership and cross-functional teams to address complex safety issues and drive injury prevention.

The role includes supervising documentation, investigations, training, KPI reporting, and staff development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety/Health Sciences, or related discipline (or commensurate work experience).
• Minimum 5 years with a Master’s degree or 8 years with a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or related field.
• Willingness to lead, develop and manage safety staff and programs.
• Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and administer risk assessment, hazard identification, incident investigations, inspections, and audits to prevent accidents.
• Manage plant- and region-wide safety processes, SOS program, emergency planning and training, and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee inspections, reviews of equipment safety, hazard analyses, and development of accident prevention plans.
• Ensure personnel have current safety training, drug tests, and required training before site arrival.
• Develop and monitor KPIs for safety incidents, injury statistics, training hours, and response times; report trends to management.
• Lead ergonomics, fire safety, machinery safety, energy control and lockout training; assess training needs and implement programs.
• Coordinate with authorities and external auditors to ensure compliance and implement preventive measures.
• Review and update Occupational Safety policies; enforce policies with stakeholders.
• Perform talent management: performance reviews, development, succession planning, recruitment, and disciplinary actions.
