Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Lead Transmission Line Engineer to manage a senior team in electric transmission line design projects from 34.5 kV to 500 kV. You will apply NESC, ASCE, ACI and NEC standards, direct analyses, modeling, and BOM preparation across planning, environmental, permitting, and construction phases.

You will lead staff development, manage scope and budgets, and drive proposals and new business capture for the team’s work.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering; Civil Engineering preferred.
8+ years of relevant experience in the design of electric utility transmission systems with a Bachelor's degree, or 6+ years with a Master's.
Expertise in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
Work effectively in a team environment; can also work independently.
Strong communication to serve as primary point of contact for clients.
Business acumen with understanding and meeting key project performance metrics.
Onsite work possibility; some travel may be required.
Ability and passion to develop staff through mentoring.

Responsibilities

Direct multiple design teams simultaneously executing various projects and programs for multiple clients.
Develop a team of engineers by training, coaching, and nurturing Leidos’ engineering talent.
Supervise staff by approving timesheets and running the annual performance review process.
Participate as a member of the leadership team of the Transmission Line Section.
Create responses to RFPs, RFIs, RFQs from clients including proposal creation and scope.
Foster creative problem solving for clients’ complex issues.
Promote continuous improvement to streamline processes and tools.
