Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Lead Transmission Line Engineer to oversee a senior team delivering overhead transmission line design from 34.5 kV to 500 kV for major utilities. You will apply standards such as NESC, ASCE, ACI, and NEC and direct analyses, modeling, and procurement across planning, environmental, permitting, and construction phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering; Civil preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in design of electric utility transmission systems with a BA, or 6+ years with MS.
• Expertise in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• Team-oriented and able to work in a collaborative environment.
• Strong communication to serve as primary client contact.
• Business acumen with track record of meeting project metrics.
• Onsite work possible; some travel may be required.
• Mentoring and staff development capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct multiple design teams on varied projects for multiple clients.
• Develop and train a team of engineers; coach and mentor staff.
• Oversee timesheets and annual performance reviews.
• Lead as part of the leadership team of the Transmission Line Section.
• Prepare proposals, define scopes, and respond to RFIs/RFPs/RFQs.
• Drive process improvements and leverage automation where possible.
• Forecast workload and support recruiting for growth.
• Ensure high quality in deliverables and client satisfaction.
• Manage project portfolio scope, schedules, and budgets with PMO support.
