Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a senior SCADA design lead for nationwide utility-scale renewable energy projects.

You will design, review, and standardize SCADA monitoring/control systems using AutoCAD/Visio, mentor engineers, and collaborate with OT teams to ensure reliable, compliant, and scalable solutions. The role emphasizes leadership in SCADA design across PV, BESS, and wind, with a focus on documentation, FAT participation, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality,

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in electrical, mechanical or energy engineering preferred.
• Experience in industrial or utility-scale PV solar, BESS or wind.
• Direct experience in SCADA engineering.
• Experience drafting engineering drawing sets for SCADA, networking, electrical, or substation designs.
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Advanced knowledge of Layer 2/3 networking.
• Advanced knowledge of SCADA networks using Fiber Optics, RS-232/RS-485, Ethernet TCP/IP.
• Advanced knowledge of industrial automation protocols.
• Knowledge of power plant operating procedures and governance with NERC and ISOs/TOs.
• Ability to work with sub-contractors and field personnel.
• Proficiency with project management, scheduling and task management tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and own in-house design of SCADA monitoring and control systems for large-scale renewable energy projects.
• Work in AutoCAD, Visio, and other design tools to develop comprehensive SCADA designs.
• Define, document and improve SCADA design standards and best practices.
• Review scope of work documents; develop, review and approve diagrams, port maps, powering diagrams, and BOMs.
• Perform senior-level review of SCADA drawings and generate redlines at standard revisions.
• Develop drawing review quality standards and mentor junior engineers.
• Collaborate with SOLV OT teams to define server and networking hardware requirements.
• Drive standardization and process improvements to reduce design/commissioning effort.
• Generate and maintain project documentation in Visio and AutoCAD.
• Provide training materials and regular project status updates; mitigate risks.
• Promote NERC compliance and governance in design standards and reporting.
• Lead special projects researching SCADA equipment and emerging technologies.
• Serve as senior SCADA design SME in customer meetings and technical reviews.
• Interface with 3rd party integrators for manufacturability guidance.
• Lead system design review portions of FATs.
