Job summary

Tokio Marine HCC is seeking a Senior E&S Construction Underwriter for a remote, full-time role focusing on a middle-market construction book. The candidate should bring extensive E&S construction underwriting experience and demonstrate a production and business-development mindset, with the ability to operate with minimal supervision.

Ideal candidates will have a sizeable book of business and experience marketing to brokers, developing relationships, and growing a defined territory within the US

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of E&S construction underwriting experience.
• Experience underwriting middle-market construction accounts.
• Ability to manage a sizeable book of business (3–5M+).
• Strong production and business-development mindset; broker marketing.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new and renewal policy applications and related documents to classify and assess each risk, determine acceptability, assign rating, indicate endorsements and limits, and determine appropriate pricing.
• Contact and respond to verbal and written inquiries from brokers within designated timeframe to provide appropriate information and serve as an underwriting resource.
• Create and maintain all documentation including new and renewal bound files, underwriting worksheets, and phone conversations.
• Adhere to underwriting authority directives, guidelines, and company policies.
• Approve or deny within given authority or recommend decisions to higher authority.
• Cultivate relationships with internal and external contacts to facilitate underwriting and business development.
• Serve as a resource to other departmental staff regarding underwriting procedures.
• Develop understanding of factors that affect policy rating and risk.

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Professional designations (RPLU/CPCU/AU/CIC)
