Job summary

Tokio Marine HCC is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Underwriter to develop and manage a profitable middle-market construction book of business. The role focuses on E&S construction underwriting with brokers, in a remote US-based setting.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years in E&S construction underwriting, a production and business-development mindset, and a proven ability to grow a sizable book of business while working with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years underwriting E&S construction business.
• Experience marketing to brokers and developing business relationships.
• Experience underwriting middle-market construction accounts.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new and renewal policy applications and related documents to classify and assess each risk, determine acceptability, assign rating, indicate endorsements and limits, and determine appropriate pricing.
• Contact and respond to verbal and written inquiries from brokers within designated timeframe to provide appropriate information and serve as an underwriting resource.
• Create and maintain all documentation including new and renewal bound files, underwriting worksheets, and phone conversations according to guidelines.
• Adhere to underwriting authority directives, guidelines, and company policies.
• Approve or deny within given authority or recommend approval or denial to higher authority.
• Cultivate relationships with internal and external contacts to facilitate underwriting process and business development.
• Serve as a resource to other staff regarding underwriting procedures.
• Develop understanding of factors affecting policy rating and risk.
