Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University seeks a Data Security Engineer to implement and operate security controls protecting institutional data across the enterprise data estate, including analytics and relational databases. The role is 100% remote from approved states and reports to the Deputy CISO.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, information security or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Implements and maintains reusable data protection controls across the enterprise data estate.
• Operate encryption controls for data at rest and in transit; manage keys and CMKs; rotate keys and manage secrets.
• Implements least-privilege access models and conducts entitlement reviews to prevent excessive access.
• Harden security configurations for data platforms and integrate security into data ingestion, transformation, and sharing workflows.
• Document guides, participate in threat modeling, and provide hands-on support to teams deploying data solutions.
